Golden Sand Dunes, Swakopmund

The coastal town of Swakopmund in Namibia sits at the edge of the Namib Desert and is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding desert landscape.   A Quad-biking safari is a great way to see the endless dessert dunes close-up and offers breathtaking views, especially at sunset....

Activity out of Doors

He fell, down down the ice his backpack stopped him. He had fallen so far in every breath the glaciar squeeed his chest and he slipped a little further in. His foot nearly came off, he thought a ledge could break his fall. A year gone to naps, so many surgeries, so much time, he is now back in...

Dead Desert Trees at Dead Vlei

Deadvlei is a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, inside the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia. Its name means “dead marsh” and contains the remaining skeletons of the trees, which are believed to be about 900 years old. Though not petrified, the wood does not decompose because it is so...

Croak…. frog on a lillipad

Frogs have been a favourite photographic subject of mine for some time.  if I can get them to sit still for long enough. The wildlife in Thailand is varied and invariably interesting. Just love the eyes.

Ethiopia, near Soddo

The hut was black,  the sun completely blinded me.  A voice called me from the darkness in asweet and unknown language . It took a few minutes before I realized that we were two blinds who spoke languages too different. She took my soft hand, hard and calloused continued to sniff and touch her to pass on his face … The daughter smiled graciously came up to me …       Here something more about Vittore Buzzi, here if you want to travel with him: www.corsifotografia.it [contact-form...

Festival of lights, Thailand

Festival of lights, Thailand

Every year in the 12th lunar month of the Thai calendar, the  festival of lights occurs in Chiang Mai. This is usually November in the western calendar. It is possibly one of the beautiful of manmade sites in the world, even if it is only temporary. It usually lasts over 3 days. One part of the festival is called Loi Kratong. The Thai term “Loi” means to float. The term Kratong refers to a float traditionally made of banana trunk (stalk). Locals make these floats and decorate them , and then float them down the river in quite a...

Lake Karapiro New Zealand

Most of the great images of New Zealand are from the South Island. But the North Island offers some stunning sites as well. This image is from Lake Karapiro near Cambridge. What makes New Zealand images so stunning is often the skies. In Asia, skies are usually a humid fog, whereas in NZ its usually either cloudy or pure blue, not much in between.

Kung Fu anyone?

Kung Fu anyone?

I’m not sure what it is about Kung Fu, but its just cool. In my local neighborhood there is this Kung Fu school. Kids as young as 15 breaking bricks with bare hands, awesome moves and just general coolness. The hard thing is getting cool photos in a room with ugly fluoro lights. Recently I got permission to shoot their grading (my son got his yellow belt). I really wanted some gritty looking lighting, so I opted for off camera flash and extreme side lighting. Most of the lighting for this shoot  was from ground level. This makes for...

Monkey Business

Japanese Macaques are the most northern living primate and live in the mountainous areas of Japan. They can survive winter temperatures below -15. They are perhaps most notable for the amount of time they spent in naturally heated volcanic hot springs. These images made by Evan Mcbride are part of a much greater selection
